The saga continues

So it is now time to tell you about my other gorgeous, creative child. No it is not his birthday, that's in a few more months, jeesh people we do have sex at other times of the year :) But in fact he has created his own blog. He has decided to write and create more of the dragon brothers series. (If you have no idea what I'm talking about look at my earlier posts.) He has finished chapter 1 and would love for you all to take a look at it and give him some constructive criticism. I say constructive because he recently told me that he would like to be a writer one day, which of course made my heart leap with joy. So please take a moment out of your busy days for someone you love and check out his site. He would be more than thrilled to hear your opinions on it. Thanks.

birthday cake, yum

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday. I had an awesome day, well it was more like a birthday weekend. My favorite day has to be Friday, Chad got off work and we went surfing all morning. It was beautiful and I was scared shitless the whole time, the waves were huge, well huge for me. I am a South Florida longboarder for a reason, but nonetheless I caught a few (yeah me) and the day was great. I got to hang out all weekend with Chad and the kids, my kind of fun. I must say my favorite moment was when they brought me my birthday cake, and not because the cake was scrumptious, I had two pieces, yum. But, sorry the memory is for me to hold onto. I also changed my template, in case you didn't notice. I hope you like it, because I do and it's staying, until I get bored and change it again. Love to you all, and yes I realize what a lucky woman I am.

conversations

"What's done can never be undone."

" You always think you will have time to make up for past mistakes, but that's not always the case with some people. Sometimes you never get that chance to redeem yourself, for whatever reason. Maybe that person has passed away, maybe you did something so unforgivable to them. Whatever the reason, what's done can never be undone. The funny thing is, that sometimes, maybe even most of the time, you don't even know you are causing such irreparable harm. It doesn't matter."

That's the gist of a conversation I had recently, it struck me as being so true.

I only ride longboards

So if this picture is making you wonder what the hell that guy is doing out in the water, well then you don't surf. For all of us who do, well yeah we're looking at the awesome marine life, a.k.a a humongous shark, but most of us are looking at that beautiful wave he's swimming in. Now that is my kind of day, knee-waist high, super glassy. God, doesn't that look like fun.
I can't wait to go surfing tomorrow. Anyone want to come?

Ashton Cole

All right, I hate to break this to you, but I just have to say I have the coolest kids in the world. I know you think your kids are, but not so. That's okay though you can have the second coolest kids ever, no shame in coming in second. It's all about how hard you try.

If you look to your left, you will see the ringleader of cool and today, yes folks today, is his 13th birthday. This kid is rocking. He has found the secret to happiness, don't ask me what it is, he doesn't blab his secrets like I do mine. It's just enough to be around him, to bask in the glow that is Ashton. He is so excited about his birthday, he is every year, but I think this year is different, this year he is a teenager. (Oh my god! I have a teenager. ) My son has grown into a very handsome, smart, and of course, happy young man. Could I want for anything more? The only thing I have ever wanted for my kids is for them to be happy, truly happy. With Ashton I didn't even have to try, he just is. I could go on and on about this kid, but I'd rather spend the day hanging out with him, being around him is good for your soul.

So to the ringleader of cool, I wish you a very Happy Birthday! Ashman, we love you and we are so proud of all the things you have accomplished for yourself. You are the light that shines bright in our household and I am so glad I get to be a part of you.

Lazy Days

Nothing makes me happier than a rainy day. How can you not love it, the cool breeze, the chance to sit curled up with a good book, or take a hot steamy bath. The rain pitter-patting against the window.

All right, all right, this is starting to sound like an intro to a lifetime family movie.

The rain does hold a special little place in my heart though, I lost my virginity in the rain. No I'm not going to go into the sordid details, but those of you who know me were getting a little worried, huh?

Suffice to say I love the rain, and I've missed the little afternoon showers that usually come through my yard every afternoon, but have been decidedly obsolete this summer. I miss the so-called winters that have been less and less each year down here in sunny Florida. Although, I must say, I am and forever will be a tropical people. The current situation we are in is one we were aware of as children, you know this global warming. My handsome and very intelligent husband reminded me of that fact just yesterday. When we were little do you remember the warnings, and we were ready to take action. We were ready to do what needed to be done. What the hell happened, we got old and lazy, that's what happened. Why did we suddenly stop caring about what was going on, at just the point where we could actually do something about it? I mean most of us have kids or want to have kids or want more kids. So why do we sit back and do nothing as the world continues to grow more and more unstable around us? This is not going to get any better. Soon, and much too soon for my tastes there will be nothing left. No more forests or pastures, no more clean oceans or lakes, nothing. Does anyone of us still sit and think on this like we may/or may not have as kids? I will be the first to admit that while I rant and rave on this subject from time to time I never try to come up with a solution. But am I willing to keep being lazy and let my kids and their kids pay the price. No, but what to do, what to do?

Shit, this was going to be a short and sweet little blurb about how I spent my rainy day yesterday making bead bracelets and playing games with my kids and the aforementioned hot and cuddly hubby. Now I've gone and made a public promise to stop being lazy. Shit, shit, shit.

I have work to get done now, so... I've got to go.

Genevieve Eden

So today is my beautiful little girls birthday, yeah! She's 9, and not really little anymore. Before I go off on a tangent, let me just say Happy Birthday, rockstar! If you know my daughter you know she's no ordinary little girl. There will be no pink or purple at this party, she wants motorcycles and loud rock music, I think I can oblige. When I was pregnant with her I thought of all the girlie things we would do when she was older, she would have the cutest dresses (lol) and I would get to fix her hair all kinds of different ways. Instead those are the things we do when she is being punished for something. She does like to go shopping, which is pretty cool, we usually end up in the music section where she can find some headphones and rock out. I must say, even though it's completely different than what I had expected I wouldn't want any other little girl in the whole world. And not just because you always love what your kid turns out to be, but because life is full of surprises. When you are little and see your life unfolded in front of you it's awesome, right? When you get older and see what life has become, well that's up to you to decide if it's still awesome or not. But either way it's yours and you made all the choices that led up to that point. So why do we waste time lamenting all the ways we could have done things differently? Why not just enjoy what fate has thrown into our laps and make it our own? Too many people like to live in their regrets, in my humble opinion, this allows them to never move forward, it's the crutch they use to not have to accept responsibility for their lives. It's bullshit and sad all wrapped up in one. So to all you people out there, let me just say, come and meet my daughter, I mean it come and meet her. She is the coolest person you will ever know, and if I have anything to say about it she will never waste a moment of her time regretting the choices of her life. If I know her at all, she will be too busy living her awesome life no matter where it goes.
I only have one thing to say, I love you Genevieve Eden, you've given me more than I could have ever hoped for.

The story of the Dragon Brothers

as told by: Ashton, Kenan, and Genevieve Nichols

Once upon a time there were two brothers. There was Water Dragon and Fire Dragon. The two brothers were the victim of an evil uprising from their younger sister, Earth Dragon. When the uprising occurred Water Dragon was washed out into the sea and Fire Dragon was thrown into a volcano. They were doomed. While Water Dragon was pondering his fate, he saw Air Dragon. Air Dragon swooped down and rescued him from the giant waves of the ocean and a hungry great white. At the same time, the Queen Phoenix saved Fire Dragon from his fiery death. This is where the brothers obtained their powers. They teamed up with their rescuers and vowed revenge on their younger sister, Earth Dragon...........

Monkeys make me want to dance

Okay people if you have not heard of, or listened to Arctic Monkeys all I can say is, you don't know what you're missing. I profess I am nowhere near a music critic but this is good shit. I haven't heard a rock record in a long time that makes me want to jump up and dance. Genevieve and I were running errands today and it was her pick, we listened to this CD all day.
I have nothing more to say on the matter, except go out and hear Arctic Monkeys you won't be sorry.

this is a cheesy advertising blog

So I was starting to feel the pressure to blog, my fans needed something new to read, right? I know it's ridiculous my fans can patiently wait for my genius to peak and I actually have something good to say, right? (Oh god, I'm starting to sound like Elliot Awful, right?) Anyways the point is this is going to be a cheesy advertising blog :) And you all will love it anyway, see there's that vain thing again, right?

So on with the show, I needed to send a friend of mine a birthday greeting, what better and easier way than to send an ecard. So I found this website (here comes the advertising part)

Free Ecards at WickedMoon.com
Free Ecards at WickedMoon.com

and I really liked the art, it's that fantasy art the type that they feature in Heavy Metal magazine. You know with the naked girl wrapped around the dragon, or the wicked fairy who just cut off some guys head and she's standing there grinning, that kind. So if you are into that kind of stuff, check out the site. That's it folks, I never said it was going to be good.

Words and all the things they mean.

I recently discovered I was vain. Can you imagine me, vain? It dawned on me one day that I am not the most beautiful girl in the world. {scoff} There were girls walking all over this planet that were better looking than me, smarter, funnier, just plain cooler. I realized that I was vain for all the wrong reasons. I was worried that people were looking at me and I was not measuring up to their standards of hotness, like some judgement being passed down upon me. And it occured to me that a) most people are so caught up in themselves that they are really not paying that much attention to me, and even thinking so just shows how far my vanity had grown. and b) that why did I really care. I mean really, why? I am happy with the way that I look, who wouldn't change a few things now and again, yes I've even heard you men lament about your growing bellies and balding heads. So it's not just us women. But overall I am happy, and yes still vain. But my vanity is all mine, no one else gets to define it for me.

Secrets

I started this blogging so I wouldn't have to send group emails anymore, and when I set it up I stumbled across this website http://www.postsecret.blogspot.com/. I think it's pretty groovy, and I encourage you all to check it out. Anyways that's my 2 cents for now, thanks for coming.

P.S. My amazing and awesome son Ashton tested, on Friday, for his new belt in Tae Kwon Do. Yes, you can congratulate him he is now a yellow belt and would be more than happy to show you the boards he broke to get there.

Life is short, drink more coffee :)

Jul 21, 2006

So I decided to do it, why not every great while I have something worth while to say. This way you all can choose if you want to hear me say it.
Today my ramblings shall be about The Libertine, has any one seen this movie, let me just say if Johnny Depp wasn't hot before, I would be melting right now. The movie in my professional opinion was amazing, he was great in it. Chad and I usually watch movies with the subtitles on, I can't say if this would help you to watch the movie or not, but I think it was useful in this movie. John Malkovich and Samantha Morton are in it as well, her character was very well played. In the end I have to say Johnny Depp, I like you, I like you alot.
So to all my friends and loved ones I bid Adieu.
